8-Bit Eric's Atari 2600 Subscriber Special

8-Bit Eric's Atari 2600 Subscriber Special! This is a quick and special thanks to everyone that has subbed to my channel! 2600 subs and counting! With this milestone I am going to have a quick look at a classic video game system. The Atari 2600! Thanks again for all the support and here is to the next chapter in my YouTube channel! I couldn't do this without you guys!

The Atari 2600 is a video game console released in October 1977 by Atari, Inc. It is credited with popularizing the use of microprocessor-based hardware and cartridges containing game code, instead of having non-microprocessor dedicated hardware with all games built in. The first game console to use this format was the Fairchild Channel F; however, the Atari 2600 receives credit for making the plug-in concept popular among the game-playing public.

The console was originally sold as the Atari VCS, for Video Computer System. Following the release of the Atari 5200, in 1982, the VCS was renamed "Atari 2600", after the unit's Atari part number, CX2600. The 2600 was typically bundled with two joystick controllers, a conjoined pair of paddle controllers, and a cartridge game—initially Combat and later Pac-Man.

The Atari 2600 was wildly successful, and during much of the 1980s, "Atari" was a synonym for this model in mainstream media and, by extension, for video games in general.

The Atari 2600 was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York in 2007. In 2009, the Atari 2600 was named the second greatest video game console of all time by IGN, who cited its remarkable role as the console behind both the first video game boom and the video game crash of 1983, and called it "the console that our entire industry is built upon."

Life at the Office

Well, it is only Tuesday and I am already about to strangle a few people here at work. Usually my workload gets a bit hectic towards the end of the month and the way my team is set up I am usually fending for myself. I will occassionally have help from another co-worker but most of the time I am pretty much on my own.

It has gotten so bad recently, that I am not even checking the work I am doing to make sure it is done correctly. I am all about the paycheck at this point. If it wasn't for the fact that I was back in school and needing the dough to pay bills I would definitely quit this job in a heartbeat.

I miss the good ole' days of working a part time job, where my schedule was a bit more laid back because I would have hours that fluctuated. I remember working at the movie theater and sure the job didn't pay even half of what I needed but it was fun. Despite the fact that I hated having to clean up after bratty snot nosed kids after Disney movies.

My office is full of strange people. Most of them go into business for themselves so the point of having "teams" is pretty much useless. I find myself often stuck having to help other people when they need it. Even though I hardly can find a helping hand. I would say the enviroment here is kind of clique-ish. For the most part, if you are in good with someone that doesn't have to work, neither will you. Because that person will want you to take all the breaks they take with them, and surely if you have work to do you can't keep them company.

So this usually results in the person passing off their friends work to me and my cubicle buddy. At this point, the majority of the team members have left to greener pastures, or are in the process of just not giving a damn anymore. So it feels like it is a two man only team.

Not to sound like a pig. But some of these people (especially certain birds) get on my nerves so much that given the chance I would probably hate f*ck them haha. Sorry just had to quote a friend. But seriously, some of these people here are ridiculous. Hope everyone else loves their jobs!

The Semester is Finally Finished!

I decided to go back to school recently and jumped right into the Spring semester. It had been a good two years since I received my Associates degree and it has been long overdue that I return to finish up my Bachelor's degree. I will admit that I was beyond afraid and had my doubts, but I kept on keeping on and I am proud to say that I finished the semester with four straight A's. This is a first for me. I can't stop thinking the professors must have graded easy, but then again, maybe I did do that well? Either way, I am absolutely thrilled that I am finished with my first semester back in school!

I made an announcement back in January that I had filler content for the channel and if you guys have visited it was mostly pickup videos, Ask Eric videos, 8-bit Tidbits and more. But as the semester pressed on, I started to just concentrate on pickups and videos from various events. I apologize if the quality of the content may not be superb but I had to keep some regular content going onto the channel while I was on a busy schedule. Youtube is a top priority for me, but juggling school in addition to creating content is very difficult to keep up with.

Now, what onto the news about the Youtube channel. Since it is the Summer, I will be having more free time to work on videos. This includes more video game reviews and rants. The two types of videos I realize get more views than anything else. Not to sound like a Youtube whore, but achieving maximum views on my videos is my goal. So I will be concentrating on the stuff that the majority of people want to see on my channel.

Right now, I am finishing up whatever content I have currently on my computer. After that, I will be taking a brief hiatus from uploading. Just so I can concentrate on putting together a backlog of video game reviews. I am not sure if this is a good strategy but I feel it would help with the editing and uploading process so I won't get burned out by doing them constantly with no break.

I am still rather new to Youtube and making videos, so any tips, advice or even comments would be appreciated. I have fun doing videos for people to watch and without you guys I would not even be half of what little success I feel I have earned.

Thanks to all of you!

Mizuumi-Con 5: Interview with Sith Shadow Council of Texas (The 8-Bit Er...

I got a chance to interview members of SSCOT at Mizuumicon 5 here in San Antonio, TX at Our Lady of The Lake University. Check it out.

The Sith Shadow Council of Texas (SSCOT) is an independent, non-profit group whose members enjoy the Star Wars universe in their own way. SSCOT is based in San Antonio, Texas and is not affiliated with Lucasfilm or any of its licensees or subsidiaries. Our group was started in 2008 by Rob Rodriguez. SSCOT is a place where people can promote and share an interest of Star Wars. SSCOT is involved in the local community through charity and volunteer work. Members dress up in costume, attend social events, and are available for a variety of events, both to the general public and professional groups.

Many SSCOT members enjoy dressing as their favorite Star Wars character. Members strive to have costumes as authentic to the movie as possible. However, creativity is encouraged. Some members choose to dress up as a fantasy character inspired by the Star Wars series. Regardless of which costume each member would like to create, everyone works as a team to create individual looks. Each member is responsible for not only the costume that they are wearing, but the props that are using as well. This becomes a financial hardship for some of our members. We assist each other to create the costumes each envisions. Ultimately, producing and showing the costume will create awareness about a certain part of the Star wars universe.

Once a month, members attend an organizational meeting. During these meetings, upcoming events are discussed and all details are finalized. Some of the events SSCOT has planned for this year include the 2012 Fiesta Flambeau Parade and the Texas Comicon Convention. Our members have been invited to participate at the Central Texas College's GeekFest in Killeen, Texas. During meetings, members are notified of any events in which SSCOT has been asked to participate. These events may include local conventions, parades, and similar gatherings throughout Texas. SSCOT members, dressed in costume, are available for school functions, birthday parties, and other social events. There is no fee to appear, although we do ask for a donation. Monthly meetings also allow for SSCOT members to share and discuss their interests in Star Wars.

SSCOT is proud to be considered a charity and community service group. Even though the Sith are known as the "bad guys" in the Star Wars movies, the group works closely with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Texas Kidney Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation in raising money and participating in their events. SSCOT is also involved in projects that benefit causes like bringing smiles to children with special needs at Morgan's Wonderland, partnering with a local Transformers group in collecting toys for the Elf Louise Christmas Project, and feeding the hungry through the Avenida Guadalupe Association's food drive. Every member in SSCOT is humbled that the group's collective efforts are recognized by "Geek Speak," an online blog in the San Antonio Express-News website.

Through the group's desire in dressing up in costume, active participation in social events, and a love for community service, everyone in SSCOT is able to share their own interest in Star Wars. Whether a member is casual fan or has a deep appreciation for Star Wars, everyone has a place in the group. Anyone who likes Star Wars and lives around San Antonio, Texas should join SSCOT and be part of something great.

Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular (NES) Review

Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular NES review. In this review I take a look at this pos game for the NES featuring Snoopy in a series of wacky silly and inane sports taking place in italy??

This video game is a collection of six events that uses various characters from the Peanuts series (Donald Duck in the Japanese version) as opponents. Events include boot throwing (similar to hammer throwing), pizza balancing, and sack racing, among others. In the background, landmarks unique to Italy are shown (i.e., Leaning Tower of Pisa) and the structures using Roman architecture (i.e., the Colosseum) are shown while the player competes at the six events.
